Mentoring is a hot topic.

We often receive emails and calls from agents wanting to know:
  • If Jason has a mentor
  • If they should have a mentor
  • How Jason got a mentor and how they can find a trusted mentor
  • What qualities they should look for in a mentor
  • How a veteran agent mentors a young agent
  • And many more…

So we thought to do a podcast about “mentors and the lost art of mentorship,” and bring in Jason’s main mentor to let you hear the story and methods from him!  So in this podcast, we have the awesome Mike Beard, whom Jason speaks of fondly and quite often.

He has been in the industry for over 40 years and was the agency owner, who 14 years ago, gave Jason the chance to taste this great industry.  He taught Jason and showed him what caring for your customers looked like and how doing it well could change the trajectory of his life.  Man was he right!

Winners do what failures refuse to do”  – Mike Beard
Loyal listeners . . . this one is a gem.

Did you hear what you aid at the beginning?? You have agents in their 40’s and 50’s on because the young agents were busy out writing business.

Really? That implies those in their 40’s and 50’s weren’t. I would hope that is not what you meant but that is how it sounded. You might want to edit that one, young Jason.

I am a Finance major and have been running sales since college and now am looking at Selling Insurance.

You strike me as someone professional and able to provide council.

Farmers reached out to me and I’ve sat down with them to talk. I am not sure all the costs going in but ideally I would like to own my on BoB and work with an Indy shop as a “producer” or a “exit strategy” so someone looking to get out in a few years had someone to sell there BoB off to.

I am located in Boise Idaho and trying to find a shop that can handle this type of criteria.

Also, I am looking at a 30k/yr contract for insurance to my Parents Trucking business as well as their personal property so would like to find something that can do both of those.

I need to act quickly and plan on getting my licenses once I can start studying for them.

      Hey Brandon,

I’d be happy to talk with you about some of the questions you have about getting into the business. Look for an email from me soon.

    Hi Jason,

I’ m a newly licensed Life Only-Agent in California, and don’t know which IMO’s would be best, with integrity and trust?

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Appreciate your time.

    Thanks,
    Aaron
